TREEMENDUS ARBOR CARE
If a tree on your property in Salt Lake City just doesn’t look right- it’s turning brown, thinning leaves or something else, TreeMendus Arbor Care will take the time to figure out what’s actually causing the problem, not just what it looks like. Owner Caleb O’Brien is an ISA Certified Arborist, and also Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. That means he’ll evaluate your whole property, from bark beetles in your spruce trees to your shade trees struggling with the drought. Call us at (801) 403-4496 to get started.
Tree Care for Salt Lake City Homes, Estates and Properties

What makes Salt Lake City such a great place to live is how we’ve got one of the most established tree canopies in Utah. Big shade trees in The Avenues and historic streets of Sugar House, Yalecrest and the East Bench, and most of these trees have been growing here for generations. The age of the trees is what makes those neighborhoods special, but it also means the trees carry years of stress from construction, compacted and clay soil, old planting mistakes, and even the drought we’re going through.
One thing a lot of homeowners in SLC don’t realize is that the trees in your park strip likely aren’t yours. The city’s Urban Forestry program is responsible for the plants between the sidewalk and the road, including any trees, and code requires a permit before anyone works on those trees. So if it looks like a tree is declining, your first call may have to be Urban Forestry. We’ll help you figure out which trees on your property are yours, and which ones belong to the city.
The other big story here is our water situation. As more homes in Salt Lake City “flip the strip” and try xeroscaping, the trees that previously spent years using lawn sprinklers for water suddenly lose their main water source. But we actually know that most trees in Utah are overwatered. So our goal here at TreeMendus is to keep the tree alive, but not give it so much water that you drown it. We want to get the balance right, and it all depends on the species of the tree, where it’s located, and how much the tree has been watered so far.
Most tree problems aren’t revealed until they’re serious. By the time a tree looks like it’s sick, the cause has probably been around for years. That why we always start with a diagnosis.
Your Consultation Is With an ISA Certified Arborist. You’re not going to get a salesperson with a price list. Our consultations are all led with a certified arborist who has passed an exam administered by the International Society of Arboriculture. That means they’ll take time to diagnose what’s going on with your trees, and explain it to you in simple terms.
We Look at the Whole Property. When you work with a general tree service company, they’ll come out and look at the tree you point at. We’ll take a look at everything, because what’s hurting one tree is probably affecting the others- you just can’t see it yet.
We’re in It for the Long Haul. We’re not just going to treat a tree once and walk away. We want lifetime customers, so we’ll do everything we can to earn your trust.
Every recommendation we make is grounded in research and best management practices, backed by these credentials:

Caleb was the 3rd arborist who came to evaluate the health of my tree. He was the most thorough in examining it and showing me the evidence of his diagnosis. He didn’t try to sell me services or false hope but gave me realistic expectations and options. He did not charge me for the visit or his expertise. I appreciate his knowledge, advice, and help!Posted on Google![]()

Wow! What an amazing experience. Certainly, Will has the heart of a teacher and not of a salesman. His knowledge and expertise are one of a kind. I learned more from him in 2 hours of watching and asking questions than I have in the last 20 years of talking to other so called "Experts". He is the epitome of under promising and over delivering. The trees in my yard have never looked more healthy and happy since I have used this company and their services.Posted on Google![]()

You can hire an arborist and they’ll spray your tree, you won’t hear from them until next spring when they’ll want to sign you up for an overpriced, non-essential, non targeted services. I’ve done that for a few years, then I stopped hiring an arborist. Then a time cane when I needed real help. I stumbled on Treemendusaborcare and I know I don’t need to look further. An arborist came out, walked my yard, taught me tree by tree what its needs are, what he’s seeing as deficiencies and proposed a tree by tree care service. No contract, no buy one get one, just straight forward services. We also talked watering, mulch and the differences in mulches, pruning, drip line placement, and some pretty complicated issues with one zelkovia getting too much water and how to find the source of unknown excess water. I have 20 trees of various sizes and varieties in my yard. The treatment cost was $2500 (averaged $125 per tree) and worth every penny. How do I know that? Four weeks later I’m seeing growth where there was nothing at all, brilliantly colored leaves, and improvement in appearance on each tree. The arborist (Caleb) even came by my house on his way home and looked at trees with unique issues and we discussed solutions that I want to implement myself. I tried to pay him but he insisted on this being part of a client - provider relationship. Those are not his words but he expressed it in a similar way. I’m relieved that I have an arborist I can rely on. Caleb has a great business model of service. I can trust him with my trees, they bring a lot of satisfaction and beauty to my yard.Posted on Google![]()

Will and Caleb are THE most knowledgeable arborist in Utah. Will is the ONLY International Society of Arboriculture board certified "Master Arborist" in the state. You cannot go wrong with him, and honestly, you definitely cannot do any better. I have never met a pair (Will and Caleb) more dedicated to their craft. I will never use anyone else to handle our plant/tree needs. They do everything from assessments, to acquisitions, to planting and caring for your plants/trees. They are worth every penny. When I purchase a tree, I am buying it for a lifetime and not just a few years. I am ecstatic that Will and Caleb feel the same way. We paid a lot of money to get 30' tall (10+ year old trees) put in: 10 of them. I would never trust anyone else. If we moved away, I'd pay extra to consult with them. That's how good they are! If I could give 1,000 stars on Google I would!Posted on Google![]()

We had a large blue spruce tree in front of our south facing house that we loved. It provided a lot of shade and character to our house that was built in the late 50's. One day it started dropping needles pretty rapidly and we came across Will's website which was focused on the health of trees instead of the many arborist who are out to cut them down. I was a bit apprehensive knowing the rate of the needles that started dropping from the top of the tree and didn't want to pay for treatment if we ultimately needed to cut it down. Sadly, the needle drop continued which I shared with Will. He confirmed it was dead. I was really upset about the outcome. I had several conversations with Will to express my disappointment. The reason I am giving him 5 stars is how he handled our situation with our beloved spruce. He went above and beyond to make things right for us. I didn't expect him to follow through with some of our conversations 6 months later as I've been burned before with other services in the past. Will is extremely passionate about trees, bugs, soil, and all the biology involved that it takes to understand how to care for your trees. I encourage the consultation with him as he covers many fascinating realities of life around and in our trees. Caleb is another member of his team who is also very knowledgeable who did a lot of the work around our property. He shared some practical advice and helped me understand how easy it was to blow out my sprinklers despite not having a more current irrigation set up to adapt an air compressor.Posted on Google![]()

What a knowledgeable and amazing group of arborists. Unlike other so called arborists these guys aren't in it to just to cut down your tree and move on. They will work with you to help struggling trees rebound and thrive. They are honest and fair. I will continue to use their services as long as I have trees.Posted on Google![]()

We are so grateful to have found Will and his team! Will was kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely excited about some of our trees. You could just see how much he loves what he does. Caleb was just as thoughtful and skilled, and it was clear they both care deeply about preserving trees, not just cutting them down at the first sign of trouble. For the first time in a long time, we feel like our trees are in good hands. Highly recommend.

Not yet. As of summer 2026, EAB hasn’t been reported anywhere in Utah (thankfully). It’s already found in Colorado, and it’s spreading fast. Prevention is the only option- so if you’ve got ash trees in Salt Lake City, now’s the time to set up a protection plan.
No we don’t- we instead focus on tree health services like diagnosis, treatment and long term care.
